Laser / Optics Engineer
The Laser/Optic Engineer will be a company expert in the company’s Laser Systems and support the application of the company’s Laser Systems. The individual will design and develop new laser systems. The individual will work with and support Customers, Sales, Application Engineering, Engineering and Manufacturing departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Become a company expert in the company’s laser systems.
- Understand and support the application of the company’s laser systems
- Perform optical design and layout of components and systems
- Analyze laser systems and components to improve performance and reliability
- Select and qualify laser components and suppliers and provide supplier support
- Develop, Design, Prototype and Test various types of laser systems (i.e. flash lamp, diode pumped, direct diode, and fiber)
- Write technical reports and technical specifications
- Make recommendations on technologies to be applied to products
- Participate with other engineering team members on the develop of products to ensure efficient production methods, manufacturability, serviceability, reliability and uniformity across product lines
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years minimum strong hands on experience in optical and laser design.
- Experience in designing, testing and building Flash lamp laser systems
- Experience in designing, testing and building DPSS laser system
- Strong analytical skills
- Have an understanding of laser electronics
- Experience with mechanical and optical layout tools required.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Be a team player able to work with and support other departments and interact positively with customer and suppliers.
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must have significant experience in the design, development and manufacturing of laser systems.
EDUCATION
Minimum BS in Physics, Optics or Laser Engineering
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Drivers License and clean MVR record & BCI record is required.

Must be able to lift and move equipment (lift up to 50 lbs). WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primary work is in an office and lab environment. Travel is required to visit customers, visit suppliers and industry shows both domestically and overseas.
